Lake Aguamilpa

About Lake Aguamilpa
Aguamilpa is a beautiful lake with surrounding peaks as high as 6,000 feet, at times towering over the water. Lake Aguamilpa is located in the majestic Sierra Madre mountain range near the town of Tepic. Once inaccessible to outsiders, this rugged
section of the Sierra Madre is now host to bass anglers from around the world! For sheer numbers of quality bass Aguamilpa can’t be beat.
It is a river lake, up to 65 miles in length and covers 31 thousand surface acres. The lake was opened for fishing in 1997. A normal day is 80-100 bass per boat with most in the 2-6 pound range with many in the 7-9 pound range.
Getting Here
You can fly into either Mazatlan, Guadalajara, or Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It’s a 3-5 hour drive from airport to the Lodge, depending on where you fly into. The ground transportation to take you to the lodge is included in the package. We only ask that you tip your friendly driver.
Communications
There is WiFi available at the Lodge. Cell phones work as there is a tower nearby; however, data fees may be high in Mexico. If it’s necessary that you receive data, we suggest that you contact your provider before arriving to obtain a plan that includes use in Mexico.
Guides
Many of the guides have twenty years or more experience on the lake and speak enough fishing English to communicate with you effectively. They are flexible and will fish as many hours as daylight will allow.
Season
The Lodge is open from October through June for peak fishing and the most favorable weather. We generally do not fish during the summer for your safety as it is monsoon season here at the lake.
About Coras Lodge
Located on a hillside overlooking the lake, Cora’s Lodge is relatively close to the city of Tepic, one of Mexico’s major metropolitan areas. You will fly into Guadalajara, which is serviced by many commercial airlines. Modern paved roads from both locations make your trip to the lodge smooth and comfortable. This modern fishing lodge provides first class accommodations as well as great service and delicious cuisine! The resort holds up to 24 guests and it’s a quick trip down the hill to your boats. Cora’s Lodge is open to bass anglers from October 16 to late June.
